What Does A Residual Income Lifestyle Mean To You?

In the BusinessDictionary.com website, the definitions of residual income is:

Definition 1 - Net income that an investment can earn over the minimum rate of return (time-deposit interest rate).

Definition 2 - Royalty income that accrues to the owner of an intellectual property, such as art, books, lyrics, music, patents, etc.

Here’s a good example of residual income. Imagine you had one million dollars in cash in a money market account (or whatever) and you were earning 5.8% interest. Each month you could take out that interest payment and live off of it while your one million dollars still earned that EVERY month? Think you could live with that? That is a type of residual income. What if it was five million dollars or more? Hmmm….

Now let’s talk some reality…how much do you CURRENTLY have saved up to that magical million dollar mark?

Another thought…what’s your retirement lifestyle going to look like? Seriously. What kind of income are you going to have coming in on a monthly basis to live on? Are you going to be living on beachfront property, or have a luxurious cabin on 100 acres of forest with a lake (or both), travelling around the world several times a year? Or are you going to be living a life that is completely opposite of that? I can’t even write those possibilities. Ewww. That is something that makes me utterly SICK to my stomach to think about being financially poor when I retire and get really old. I just got shivers as I finished writing that sentence.

Do you have more than a million dollars in a high yield savings account of some kind? Are you going to even be able to save a million dollars or more by the time you retire? Is your 401k going to exceed a million dollars when you retire?

How many years are you going to have to work at your job to be able to save a million dollars or more to retire on? When will you retire? Do you know? Do you have a plan?

What would having a residual income business that earned enough money that you could quit your job or be able to retire early, and even afford your significant other to not work their job mean to your life? What dollar figure would it take to where you could pay for EVERYTHING you owe, buy, want, invest, need and desire and be able to say goodbye to your job? Think about it…
